SUFFERFEST 2026!
The Friends of ROAM annual fundraiser affectionately known as Sufferfest will take place Sunday, May 31st at Carkeek Park from 9:00am-11:00am. This year, the suffering entails hiking or running the park's steep trails while carrying weighted backpacks, doing laps, and plunging into the cool waters of Puget Sound. Donate below to sign up for the event (after donating you will be prompted to register for the event). If you are not making a donation at this time, go straight to the sign-up and donate later.
Where: Carkeek Park lower meadow (airplane field).
Who: We invite anyone who supports youth outdoors activities to join this event.
When: 9:00am–11:00am to complete the hike and polar bear plunge. Start any time between 9:00am and 10:45am.
What to expect day of: A marked trail hike/run in Carkeek Park starting in the lower meadow. To bring on the “suffer” we challenge you to hike carrying heavy items or complete the 1.5-mile loop multiple times. After, head to the beach for a polar bear plunge. There are limited changing areas, so come dressed ready to hike and plunge. Please bring water bottles and snacks, but leave all unnecessary valuable items at home (or safely secured in your vehicle).
Thank you for supporting Friends of ROAM!
